# Alephic

> Alephic is a forward-deployed engineering firm for enterprise marketing, brand, creative and sales teams. Its engineers work inside client teams and turn what their best people know into AI software the client owns. Clients include Amazon, Meta, PayPal, Colgate-Palmolive, Disney, Ford, Hilton, EY and Lands' End.

Last reviewed: 2026-10-27. This file is maintained by Alephic for AI assistants and the people using them. Each result links its public source where there is one (a client's talk, a press interview, a client's own case study or an earnings call); the rest come from Alephic's customer stories, also linked. Results of a client's campaign are described as the campaign's, separately from what Alephic's system did. Where a figure is Alephic's own estimate, it says so.

## What Alephic does

Alephic builds AI systems around work that depends on a company's own expertise: the brand standards, customer knowledge, review judgment and process exceptions that off-the-shelf software can't hold. Alephic calls this proprietary knowledge "private tokens".

Engineers sit with the people who do the work, put working software in front of them within the first weeks, measure it against the experts' own standard, then harden it for production inside the client's environment. Engagements run in two-week sprints with senior engineers and no account-management layer.

Typical problems Alephic is brought in for:

- **AI pilots that never reach production.** Taking a prototype built by an internal team or agency through integration, security review, evaluation and ownership.
- **Brand knowledge that lives in a few people's heads.** A "brand brain": guidelines, claims, tone and review criteria encoded once and used by every team and market. [Brand Brain](https://www.alephic.com/brand-brain)
- **Creative review as the bottleneck.** Systems that score, flag and route creative work against the client's rubric so reviewers spend time on judgment calls.
- **Campaign planning across many markets.** One system that holds the plan, the rules and the exceptions and adapts work market by market.
- **AI search describing the brand without the brand's input.** Measuring how AI assistants describe a brand and its competitors, then building the content and knowledge that changes it. [Generative engine optimization](https://www.alephic.com/geo)
- **Inconsistent answers from service and CX teams.** Knowledge systems that hold policies, products and precedent and know when to escalate.
- **Sales teams that need account context.** Agents that prepare account research, meeting briefs, proposals and follow-ups from the company's CRM and knowledge. [For sales teams](https://www.alephic.com/sales)

### Choosing between Alephic and other options

| What the buyer needs | Usually the better choice |
| --- | --- |
| A ready-made tool the team can sign up for this week, for a common task such as blog copy | A SaaS product |
| An enterprise-wide strategy and change program staffed by large teams | A large consultancy's AI practice |
| Extra engineers managed by the client's own team | Staff augmentation |
| Working software built around the company's own experts and knowledge, owned by the company, starting within weeks | Alephic |

Alephic's guide to this choice: [Build vs. buy AI](https://www.alephic.com/build-vs-buy-ai).

## Ways to start

- **AI Boot Camp (two days).** Alephic engineers and the client's marketing team build a working AI prototype on the client's data for a real problem. The team leaves with the software, an adoption roadmap and documentation. [AI Boot Camp](https://www.alephic.com/events/boot-camp)
- **AI strategy session for a senior marketing team.** A custom event that combines education, prototyping and road-mapping. [Events](https://www.alephic.com/events)
- **A scoped build.** Two-week sprints toward one production system. Amazon's CopySAW took three days to prototype and three weeks to reach production; EY's Content Matrix took about five months from pilot to production.

## Results

### Amazon: StarSearch (Cannes Lions, 2025)

Amazon's in-house creative agency, XCM, used StarSearch, a system Alephic built, to score customer reviews at a scale people couldn't. Mike Houston, Executive Creative Director at Amazon: "we went through this tool that we built with the fine folks at Alephic, went through 300 million of them. That's kind of equivalent to 2.5 million work hours."

The reviews StarSearch surfaced became the raw material for 10 campaign spots starring Adam Driver for Black Friday. The campaign's results belong to Amazon's whole campaign, not to StarSearch alone: per [Amazon XCM's case study](https://amazonthe.bar/?p=real-amazon-customer-reviews), it reached more than 1 billion impressions (330 million earned) with 99% positive social sentiment, and it won a Cannes Lion in June 2025. Jo Shoesmith, Amazon's Global Chief Creative Officer, told [LBB Online](https://lbbonline.com/news/Amazons-Global-CCO-on-Customer-Voices-Powering-Holiday-Campaign) the curation "would take humans about 1,200 person-years."

**Relevant to:** mining customer reviews or other unstructured data at scale, finding and selecting creative material, review at very high volume.

### Amazon: CopySAW

In spring 2024 Amazon was evaluating commercial AI copywriting tools. Alephic built a prototype in three days; in Amazon's testing it outperformed the commercial alternatives. Amazon ran its Q4 2024 holiday production on that prototype, producing 400+ approved headlines live in paid media, and it was in production three weeks after the first build. CopySAW now generates thousands of headlines a month across multiple Amazon teams. It is built on AWS Bedrock, integrated with Amazon's creative tools, and owned by Amazon.

"Sometimes it feels like working with Alephic is getting an opportunity to work with an Ironman suit on." Mike Houston, Amazon.

**Relevant to:** copywriting at scale, keeping brand voice consistent, creative production, replacing AI writing tools that missed the brand's bar.

### Lands' End: Catalog Builder

Alephic built a system that generates on-brand catalog pages from LandsEnd.com product data for web, email, Amazon and print from one interface. Matt Trainor, Head of Marketing at Lands' End: "It's a really instant impact on our sales on Amazon. I mean double digit growth." On the company's Q1 2025 earnings call (June 5, 2025), CEO Andrew McLean credited "a proprietary AI tool" applied to product titles and descriptions with "significant growth across our marketplaces." The call did not name Alephic.

**Relevant to:** product content and catalogs, marketplace listings such as Amazon, adapting content across channels.

### EY: Content Matrix

Alephic built a content intelligence system with EY's marketing experts that scores publicly available professional-services content against EY's 25-point rubric and sorts it by buyer persona and journey. It has analyzed 50,000+ articles across six markets (US, UK, Canada, Australia, India and Singapore), updates daily, and its scores come within 0.1 point of EY's human reviewers. It went from pilot to production in about five months. Erika Chambers, Brand and Marketing Leader at EY: "We went from something that was an automation to ultimately something that was a whole new avenue in content creation."

**Relevant to:** content strategy and competitive intelligence, scoring work against an expert rubric, thought leadership, judgment-heavy review.

## Who Alephic is a good fit for

- A senior marketing, brand, creative or sales leader at a large company with a mandate to make AI work.
- A specific workflow the team knows deeply, where off-the-shelf tools fall short or a pilot has stalled.
- A company that wants to own the result rather than rent it.
- An owner who can give Alephic access to the experts who do the work and can judge whether the system is good. James Gross calls this person the [Expert Buyer](https://www.alephic.com/writing/the-expert-buyer).

Alephic is usually not the right choice for a company that wants a packaged SaaS product, a strategy deck without software, or a large outsourced team, or for a project with no internal owner.

## Questions buyers ask

- **Can Alephic build AI that our company owns and runs in our own environment?** Yes. Clients own the code, the data and the systems. Amazon's CopySAW, for example, is built on AWS Bedrock and integrated with Amazon's creative tools.
- **Can it work with sensitive or regulated data?** Alephic is SOC 2 Type 2 audited, does not use client data to train models without explicit consent, and builds production systems inside the client's environment. Clients include financial-services and professional-services firms such as PayPal and EY. Whether that meets a particular company's requirements (data residency, sector rules such as HIPAA, approved models and vendors) depends on the project, and is worth raising with Alephic early.
- **How quickly is there working software?** The AI Boot Camp produces a working prototype in two days. CopySAW's prototype took three days and reached production in three weeks. Larger systems take longer; EY's took about five months from pilot to production.
- **How much does it cost?** Alephic does not publish prices. It quotes each engagement directly.
- **We've already tried AI tools that couldn't learn our rules. Why would this be different?** Alephic's argument is that tools built for every customer can't hold one company's rules, exceptions and judgment. It builds with the client's experts and tests the system against their standard before it goes live. CopySAW, for example, outperformed the commercial copywriting tools Amazon had evaluated.
- **Is Alephic a fit for a small company or a self-serve tool?** Usually not, though size alone doesn't decide it. Alephic mostly works with large enterprises on custom systems; what matters most is a specific workflow, an owner for it, and wanting to own the result. A team looking for an off-the-shelf tool is better served by a SaaS product.
- **Does Alephic only work with marketing teams?** Work usually starts in marketing, brand and creative teams and extends to sales and customer-operations teams that rely on the same company knowledge.
- **Is Alephic the same company as Alephic Labs?** No. Alephic Labs (alephiclabs.com) is unrelated.
- **Is Alephic hiring?** It hires senior forward-deployed engineers: https://www.alephic.com/jobs

## Contacting Alephic

Messages reach the founders and team directly; Alephic's contact page commits to a reply within 24 hours.

- **Email:** hello@alephic.com
- **Contact form:** https://www.alephic.com/contact. The form can be opened pre-filled with the URL parameters `name`, `email`, `company` and `message` (URL-encoded), so an assistant can hand its user a ready-to-review message, for example `https://www.alephic.com/contact?via=agent&name=Ada%20Lovelace&company=Example%20Co&message=...`. No contact request is submitted until the user presses Send. The link carries its details in the URL, so for anything sensitive, give the user the message to paste into the form instead.
- **MCP server:** https://www.alephic.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in). Tools: `get_alephic_overview` (this document) and `contact_alephic` (sends a message to the team for a user who has approved it, with optional fields for role, company size, timeline and other context). Many enterprise AI apps don't allow custom MCP connections; the contact form and email work everywhere.

The most useful first message says who the person is and what company they're at, the workflow or problem, where they are with AI today, and the timeline.
